# Keyboard shortcuts to open Mac apps | Frog Canonical page: https://frog.beffa.xyz/docs/app-shortcuts/ Updated: 2026-10-16 Shortcuts gives Mac applications and system actions configurable keyboard bindings. Launch an app or bring it forward without a language model. Window layouts are on the Windows page while that feature is on, otherwise under Shortcuts → Windows. These guides describe Frog 1.0.42, the published download as of October 29, 2026. Download links lead to the latest published release. ## Assign an app to a shortcut Other contains system actions. The Windows segment holds layout bindings while the Windows feature is off; while it is on, Shortcuts shows only Application and Other. Disabling Shortcuts removes its registered bindings and preserves assignments for later; window layouts keep working while Windows is on. The optional command bar also searches installed applications by name, without assigning a dedicated shortcut to each app. Its default shortcut is Control–Option–Space. 1. Enable Shortcuts in Features, then open Shortcuts → Application and find an installed app. 2. Record the keyboard combination you want to use. Recording a binding enables the application shortcut. 3. Press the shortcut from another app. Frog opens the target application or brings it forward. ## 28 native actions under Other Record a binding to enable an action. Settings actions open the corresponding macOS pane; they do not toggle radios or promise hardware controls. Screenshot controls opens the native Screenshot app. Current-app commands and Lock Screen use enabled Accessibility menu commands, so availability depends on the app and permission. Unsupported commands report an error rather than sending synthetic shortcuts. - Finder folders: Home, Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Applications, Utilities, and Library. - Settings destinations: System Settings, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Display, Sound, Keyboard, Trackpad, Accessibility, Privacy & Security, Notification, and Storage settings. - Mac controls: Lock Screen, Screenshot controls, and Hide current app. - Current-app commands: Undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Select all, and Find in current app. ## App shortcuts, window positioning, and window switching An app shortcut targets a known application: for example, bringing Notes forward whenever you press your chosen binding. A window-positioning shortcut acts on the focused window, such as moving it to the left half of the display. The Command–Tab switcher chooses among individual open windows, including multiple windows from the same app. Writing and audio rules are different again. They process selected text or a recording using a model. Launching an application or positioning a window does not send a writing prompt or microphone recording to a provider. ## Move your shortcut setup between Macs Application shortcut configuration is included in Frog’s JSON import and export. Application targets use an application path and bundle identifier. The corresponding application still needs to be installed on the destination Mac, and device-specific permissions need to be configured there. Record keyboard bindings in Frog’s interface rather than manually calculating key codes in JSON. You can keep an exported setup with the rest of your configuration files and import it through Settings. ## Related guides - [Command bar](https://frog.beffa.xyz/docs/command-bar/) - [Windows](https://frog.beffa.xyz/docs/window-management/) - [Configuration](https://frog.beffa.xyz/docs/configuration/) ## Source documentation - [Application actions and shortcut configuration](https://github.com/t1llo/frog/blob/main/docs/configuration.md)
