Open with Control–Option–Space
Change the global binding on Command bar’s page. For notes that paste and clipboard results, Command–Return copies instead of attempting to paste. Other results keep their normal action, so Command–Return is not a universal copy-only mode. App and window results use application icons with compact labels.
- Enable Command bar in Features.
- Press Control–Option–Space from the app you are working in, or choose Open on Frog’s Command bar page.
- Type a name or command and use Up/Down to select a result.
- Press Return to run it. Escape closes the panel; pressing the opener again also dismisses it.
Search apps, windows, files, and macOS settings
Search is local and does not send queries to an LLM. The panel reuses its app catalog and icons; app results load independently of window discovery. File search matches names, not contents, and depends on Spotlight’s index. Window discovery depends on Accessibility and the windows macOS exposes. Closing the panel cancels its current indexing and file query.
Selecting a cloud-backed rule still sends that rule’s input to its configured provider. For writing and window actions, Frog checks that the front application has not changed before delivery.
- Applications: find installed apps by name, including Safari’s linked app bundle, and launch or focus them.
- Windows: find available titles and app names while Window switcher is enabled; selecting a result activates that individual window.
- Files: after at least two characters, Frog asks the local Spotlight index for matching filenames. Selecting a file opens it with macOS.
- Frog pages and rules: open enabled tools, Settings, Models, History, or Manage features; run enabled writing, answer, dictation, app, and system rules. Answer rules show Answers in a panel and open the answer next to the selection.
- Window layouts: while Windows or Shortcuts is on, search a layout name such as Left half to arrange the original front window. With the layout picker on, type arrange to open it.
- Uninstall: while App cleaner is on, type uninstall or remove and an app’s name, such as uninstall example. Choosing a row opens the App cleaner’s review; nothing moves from the command bar.
- macOS settings: search the System Settings panes on your Mac by name or a related phrase, such as change desktop for Desktop & Dock and Wallpaper. Each result shows the pane’s own icon, as in the System Settings sidebar. Selecting a result opens that pane; Frog never changes the setting itself.
Learn from your choices
Learn from your choices, under Ranking on the Command bar page, lists the rows you pick for what you type a bit higher. It is off by default. Unused choices fade after a few weeks.
Frog keeps the typed text, up to 32 characters, and the rows you picked in ~/Library/Application Support/Frog/command-choices.json, readable only by you. Clipboard rows and windows are never recorded. The file is not exported, synced, or sent anywhere. Forget learned choices… deletes it after a confirmation; turning the switch or the Command bar off deletes it too.
Calculate and convert units
Type an arithmetic expression or conversion and select its Calculation result to copy the answer. Arithmetic supports +, -, *, /, parentheses, ^ for powers, and % for percentages; it runs in a bounded local parser rather than a shell or JavaScript engine.
Use four space-separated parts for conversions: number, source unit, to or in, target unit. Both units must be from the same category. Data units distinguish decimal kb/mb/gb from binary kib/mib/gib. These are fixed unit conversions, not currency exchange rates.

Use notes, clipboard, and scripts
Enable each source in Features to include it. Notes with Paste from command bar turned on fill in date, time, and clipboard variables and attempt a plain-text paste into the captured target; Command–Return copies the filled-in text. Clipboard results preserve available formatting for normal paste, with Command–Return for copying. If the original target changed, the item remains copied for manual pasting.
Hidden clipboard entries, such as keys and passwords, are omitted from command-bar previews. Use Clipboard’s dedicated picker to reveal them explicitly. Ordinary clipboard search and note-content matching use bounded previews, so open the full page for broader browsing.
Other notes open in Frog. Selecting a saved script explicitly runs it and opens its document; search does not run scripts by itself. Disabling a source removes its actions and dismisses the command bar to invalidate stale results.
Clean URLs, Base64, and UUIDs
These rows are in the command bar whenever it is on; they replaced the Quick actions page in Frog 1.0.39. Clean URL removes query keys beginning with utm_ and the recognized keys fbclid, gclid, dclid, msclkid, mc_cid, mc_eid, igshid, and si; other parameters remain. It does not open the URL or follow redirects. Base64 is an encoding, not encryption.
While Shortcuts is on, Lock screen and the other Mac actions are in the command bar too: search lock. Frog’s light and dark appearance is in Settings.
- Generate UUID copies a new identifier.
- Clean clipboard URL removes recognized tracking parameters from an HTTP or HTTPS URL on your clipboard and copies the result.
- Base64 encode clipboard copies the clipboard’s text as Base64. Text an app marked as sensitive, such as a password, is not encoded.
- Base64 decode clipboard copies the decoded text when the clipboard holds Base64 that decodes to UTF-8 text.

Emoji
Search words such as emoji frog, coffee, heart, or rocket to copy an emoji from Frog’s small built-in collection. This is a curated set rather than the full macOS character catalog.
